About HLTCO

HLTCO has been covering Crystal Palace Football Club from the cheap seats since the days when “fanzine” was still a real word. We are an independent blog and podcast — not affiliated with the club, not on the press list, not on the payroll of any media group. We write because we have been going to Selhurst Park since we were young enough to need lifts there.

Who we are

We are a small team of writers, podcast hosts, and statisticians, all of whom have one thing in common: a season ticket and a slightly unhealthy obsession with a south London football club that has spent most of its history doing things the hard way.

Our editorial team rotates contributors across three core roles:

Match reporting and previews is led by writers who attend home fixtures, watch every away game live, and have spent enough hours rewinding Match of the Day to spot what the cameras missed.

The HLTCO Podcast is hosted weekly by long-time supporters who break down tactics, transfers, ownership stories, and the occasional pre-match pub argument. No sponsored talking points, no recycled press conference quotes.

Betting analysis and tools are produced by contributors who have been studying football markets — Premier League, Championship, European competition — for over a decade. Every piece of betting content on this site is built on publicly verifiable data: opening lines, closing lines, expected goals, home and away splits, and historical performance against the spread. We do not sell picks. We do not run a tipping service.

What we cover

The core of the site is, and always will be, Crystal Palace FC. That means:

  • Match previews 24 hours before kick-off
  • Match reports written before the final whistle stops echoing
  • Long-form interviews with players, former players, and people inside the club
  • A weekly podcast covering everything that happened during the week
  • Daily thoughts on transfer news, team news, and whatever is annoying the comments section

Alongside the editorial coverage, we publish analytical work on Premier League betting markets, because that is what a significant portion of our audience actually wants to read about, and because the alternative is leaving you to the mercy of generic affiliate sites that have never been to a football match.

Our betting coverage is treated with the same seriousness as our match analysis. We explain how odds are constructed, how the major bookmakers differ in their pricing, where value tends to appear, and where it never does. We link to bookmakers that are licensed by either the UK Gambling Commission or comparable regulators in other jurisdictions. We do not link to anything offshore, anything unlicensed, or anything we would not use ourselves.

How we make money

Three sources, in order of size: Patreon supporters, display advertising, and affiliate commissions from licensed bookmakers when readers sign up via links on the site. Affiliate partnerships do not influence editorial. We will tell you when a bookmaker has a bad app, a slow withdrawal record, or a poor offering on Premier League markets, regardless of whether we are commercially partnered with them. If that feels unusual for a site that mentions bookmakers, that is because it probably is.

Responsible gambling

Anyone who follows football for long enough knows somebody who has been hurt by gambling. We take this seriously. Every page on this site that mentions betting includes age restriction reminders and links to BeGambleAware, GamCare, and equivalent support services. If you are reading this and any of it sounds familiar, please stop reading and contact one of those services instead.
