We may be nowhere close to the start of the January transfer window yet but according to reports local to West Bromwich Albion, Crystal Palace are keeping close tabs on teenage defender Nathan Ferguson.
The 18-year-old, who is capable of playing as both a right and left-back has made an impressive start to the 2019/20 campaign under the guidance of Slaven Bilic and could well be the subject of a permanent transfer bid from the Eagles in the New Year as a result.
The teenager has performed well across his seven Championship appearances so far this term and has apparently been watching in person by Palace’s Sporting Director Dougie Freedman on more than one occasion; a fact which hints to genuine interest in him from those behind the scenes in SE25.
Palace have, as everyone knows, thus far failed to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka after selling him to Manchester United for £50 million over the summer and with Ferguson able to fill in on the left too, he would potentially provide cover or competition for Patrick van Aanholt, who has had his fair share of shaky displays in Palace colours since the season began.
We are still more than three months away from any deal taking place but it’s good to know that those tasked with sourcing new players are hard at work already after what was, by everyone’s standards, a rather underwhelming transfer window just gone.
