At this time yesterday, we knew nothing of links between Crystal Palace and Real Betis midfielder Victor Camarasa; fast-forward 24 hours and we’ve seen reports of Palace’s interest, a supposed trip to Spain to “tie it up” and now, the suggestion that the whole thing may not go ahead.
After spending a full season on loan at Cardiff City last term, the Spaniard showed the world that he was more than capable of cutting it in the Premier League but if Estadio Deportivo are to be believed, the player himself isn’t particularly keen on a return to England for the 2019/20 season, preferring instead to stay at Betis and try to prove himself as worthy of a regular first-team place.
It’s certainly a different take on things to what we read just a few hours ago but the outlet in question claim that Palace’s representatives have travelled south to hold talks with various clubs, rather than specifically visiting Betis for discussions on Camarasa. With a week to go in the transfer window, it’s certainly an intriguing story but with no specific names mentioned in the piece, we’re left in the dark as to who we may be pursuing.
Given the 24-hour news cycles that accompany football across the continent now, you can be sure that any little nuggets of information will be picked up on and reported with great haste but for now, according to one news outlet in particular, our attempts to convince Camarasa to give life in SE25 a spin may well come up empty.
It has been and no doubt will continue to be a whirlwind of a story but when time is running short at the end of a summer transfer window, you can’t really expect anything else.
