Crystal Palace have sent scouts to domestic games across Portugal on numerous occasions this season and now, O Jogo reports that an Eagles official was spotted at Portugal’s clash with Serbia on Monday night.
Regularly seen at Porto, Benfica and Sporting CP matches throughout the 2018/19 season to date, it’s fair to assume that we’ve got our eye on one or two targets from the Euro 2016 winners but with no specifics mentioned just yet, it remains a guessing game trying to work out exactly who we are looking at.
This report from Sports Witness suggests that left-back Rafael Guerreiro, who might be of interest to the south Londoners had arguably his best game to date in a Portugal shirt, whilst also drawing attention to Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who has long been seen as a target for the men in red and blue.
Part of a Fulham side who look destined to fall through the Premier League trapdoor in May, Mitrovic will almost certainly be open to the idea of a move in the summer and with his international teammate Luka Milivojevic already on the books in SE25, it could be a match made in heaven. Big, strong and truly unpredictable, Mitrovic seems to have all the attributes we as Palace supporters take to, with the prospect of a few goals along the way sure to endear us to him too.
It is of course nothing more than speculation at this stage but with the league season edging towards its climax, talk over future transfer targets was always bound to begin ramping up within the current international break.
