Crystal Palace are known to be tracking the progress of Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa, as they look for attacking reinforcements to bolster Roy Hodgson’s squad from January onwards.
Having already enjoyed temporary stints on the books of Swansea City and Bristol City, it should probably come as little surprise to see that Tammy has taken to life at Villa Park like a duck to water but with the bright lights of the Premier League potentially on offer to him in the New Year, we can only hope that his head may be turned.
Abraham has scored 12 times for Dean Smith’s Villains since making the jump from Stamford Bridge in the summer and although the Midlanders are sure to be keen to extend his stay until the end of the season, Chelsea themselves are likely to make a decision on his future based on Villa’s position in the Championship promotion race.
As part of their original deal, the Blues will get a substantial bonus, should Abraham play a key role in Aston Villa’s promotion to the Premier League but if they drop away from the race for a place in the top six come January, the decision to test Abraham down at Palace may start to look more attractive to the men from the Fulham Road.
You’d assume Tammy will struggle to ever earn a regular starting place in Sarri’s first-team given the wealth of talent he already has at his disposal but Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s rise to prominence in SE25 proves that Selhurst can be the perfect proving ground for players hoping to prove their worth to the Chelsea hierarchy. With the Eagles desperately short of goals as we approach the halfway point of the campaign it could prove to be a match made in heaven, keep your eyes peeled.
