Arsenal Boss Emery Looking To Steal Away Palace U23 Star

Arsenal are believed to be keeping a close eye on Crystal Palace U23 regular David Boateng with a view to stealing him away from the Eagles in the next few months.

A report from Ghana suggests that Gunners boss Unai Emery has told his scouts to run the rule over the versatile youngster after hearing all manner of good things about him, leaving Palace potentially swimming against the tide in any bid to keep him on our books.

The report itself suggests that the energetic midfield prospect is “open to fresh challenges” but in reality, any comment like that made by the publication rather than the player or his representatives can usually be taken with a pinch of salt.

There is no doubt that Boateng is a fine prospect, having been on Palace’s books since the age of nine. Happy to operate in a number of roles, David is effective both defensively and creatively, making him a prime candidate for progression in the months and years to come. The report referenced above names AC Milan alongside Arsenal as an interested party and whilst it’s the first I’ve heard of it, I can’t pretend I’m too surprised.

Last week, he was part of the U23 side which ran out 4-1 winners over Colchester and yesterday, he started in the same team’s 5-2 loss away to table-topping Ipswich Town. Whether or not David would go on to flourish as part of Arsenal’s set-up is pure guesswork at this stage but in many ways, we should be flattered that our players are being sought out by such big clubs.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has proved that the step-up from U23 football to the Premier League can be made with relative ease if you’re good enough. Who knows? We may well see David following in his footsteps in red and blue before too long.

Think this lad was also involved in an incident against Chelsea as a ball not a few years ago. Was a key part of the u18 league winning side last year so hope he kicks on here.
