VIDEO: “He Sent Him For A Hot-Dog!” Zaha Loved Townsend’s WBA Goals

Wilfried Zaha may not have been a part of the Eagles squad which ran out comfortable winners over West Brom last night but he made sure his presence was felt; uploading a pair of videos to his Instagram profile which went down a storm with the Palace faithful.

Much has been made of the team’s reliance on the 25-year-old wide-man at Premier League level but that is now successive League Cup games in which the lads have performed superbly without him, throwing in three gorgeous strikes for good measure against Darren Moore’s Championship high-flyers.

Having already seen Andros Townsend and Patrick van Aanholt fire Palace into a two-goal lead, thanks to an audacious 30-yard belter and a powerful drive into the top corner from the edge of the box, Wilf managed to film his immediate reaction to Palace’s third and Townsend’s second goal of the evening, excitedly exclaiming “He sent him for a hot-dog didn’t he?!” in reference to the chop Andros pulled out to beat his man immediately before smashing the ball home.

Predictably, Palace fans everywhere enjoyed Zaha’s observations and told him as much, prompting the 25-year-old to upload another video justifying his excitement and congratulating Townsend on a superb performance. It’s quite rightly gained a lot of laughs but on a more professional level, I’m sure Wilf was over the moon to see the team function so well in his absence, proving that we can be more than a “one man team” when things fall into place.

It’s easy for outsiders to write it off as nothing but when a player as important as Zaha is showing the world that he’s keeping up to date and revelling in his team’s successes via a stream in his house, you know he truly cares about the football club at a base level. Plenty of speculation swirled over his “desire to leave” this summer but nights like yesterday’s show just how deeply the academy graduate cares about the club and the people who represent it.

Depending on the pedigree of the opponent we face in the last 16, Hodgson may choose to rest Zaha once again but if he does, you can be sure the winger will be keeping an eye on every ball that is kicked, just like us as supporters.

What’s not to love about that?

we know andros has this indivual skill,i just wish he,d use it more often on a saturday.then the opponents really would be afraid of 2 highly skilled strikers doing their business.

Be nice if Andros can senend a few premier league defenders for hotdogs. Take some pressure off Wilf.
