Given the news that Wilfried Zaha yesterday agreed to sign a new five-year contract extension at Crystal Palace, I felt as though it was only right to compile a selection of videos highlighting the countless moments in which the winger has embarrassed the defenders he’s come up against.
It’s now eight years since the teenager made his debut in Palace colours, sporting a pair of shorts that were at least one if not two sizes too big for him and in the time that has followed, he’s been transformed from a player with huge potential into a genuine superstar.
Now closing in on 300 club appearances, the wide-man drew level with Chris Armstrong as Palace’s leading Premier League goalscorer of all-time last weekend; a title he intends to hold on his own by the time Monday night’s clash with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool is brought to an end on Monday night.
To many of those who exist outside the Palace bubble, Zaha has been typecast as a tricky winger with little to no end product. It’s perhaps thanks to those ridiculous stereotypes that we’ve managed to keep hold of him for so long, with plenty struggling to understand why Steve Parish demanded bids of £70 million for him at the start of the summer transfer window.
The longer those views are given airtime in the mainstream media, the better for supporters of Crystal Palace, who realised what a star the club had on their hands all the way back in 2010. Myths relating to Wilf’s attitude, work-rate and personality never seem to disappear but ask anyone at Palace, whether it be a teammate, coach, director or fan and they’ll quickly tell you that the real-life version of Wilfried Zaha is a far cry from any of the stories you’ll read in the press.
Should he stay put for the entirety of his new five-year deal, the winger will be committing his prime years as a professional to Crystal Palace FC, I can only imagine what sort of footage we’ll have to look back on by 2023.

On the day Wilfried Zaha has committed himself to Palace until 2023, I feel compelled to share this goal.
He didn't score it but his work to set it up highlights better than perhaps anything else why he's so important to us.
There's magic in those feet.pic.twitter.com/5i2CMyrVGU
