LOAN REPORT: Joniesta’s Back & Sullay Gets A Big Away Win

Crystal Palace loanees Jonathan Williams, Sullay Kaikai and Ryan Inniss were all involved in the match-day squads for Sunderland, Charlton Atheletic and Colchester United yesterday, with differing results across the board.

Eagles fan-favourite Williams made his long-awaited return to action for the Black Cats after a three-month spell in rehab following his latest injury, but his half-time introduction in place of Tyias Browning didn’t have an impact on the score-line, with the Bees maintaining the two-goal lead they’d established in the opening 28 minutes throughout the entirety of the second period. The loss leaves Chris Coleman’s side marooned in 23rd, three points away from safety with 14 games remaining. Can Joniesta be the catalyst for a positive end to the season? The former Wales boss will certainly be hoping so.

Sullay Kaikai started for Charlton against MK Dons in a game the Addicks ended up winning 2-1. Having been given a starting berth by boss Karl Robinson, the Palace academy winger lasted for the majority of the game before being taken off shortly before the final whilstle with he and his teammates holding a slender lead. Luckily for them, MK failed to restore parity in the closing stages, leaving Sullay and co. just inside the play-off places by the time every other game had concluded. It promises to be a rough and tumble end to the season in the third tier but it seems as though Kaikai is making a solid impression at The Valley.

Ryan Inniss was an unused substitute for Colchester as they fell to a 1-0 defeat away at Crewe. Whilst the big man has always been earmarked as a potential star of the future in SE25, his failure to kick on so far this term has left plenty wondering whether or not he has what it takes to ever break into Roy Hodgson’s first-team squad.

I think all Palace fans will hope Jonny can make a proper return to fitness and be in contention next season. In our current set up he could certainly play out wide with his touch and flair.

Innis is a strange one, been ear-marked as a talent since Dougie but seems to have been injured a lot for a 6ft 6 centre half and also had a few brushes with the law.

Thanks for the update. Another excellent feature that i think a few fans would like to be regular.
