REPORT: Palace Agree A Fee For West Ham Striker

According to both Sky Sports News and The Telegraph, Crystal Palace look set to complete the signing of West Ham striker Diafra Sakho this week.

The Senegalese international has been looking for a route away from the Hammers all season after a summer move to Rennes broke down at the last minute and now, it seems as though the frontman has found a new home across London.

Having scored four times in 17 appearances so far this term, it’s fair to say that the 28-year-old hasn’t exactly been pulling up trees in claret and blue but given the fact that he is yet to start a Premier League game in 2017/18, I don’t think anyone can be too critical of his goal return.

Speaking to West Ham fans yesterday, the general consensus seemed to be that Sakho was arguably their best striker *when* he was motivated. Known to be terribly injury prone and extremely moody, Roy is likely to have a real job on his hands if he is to keep him happy but given the terrible way his last six months at West Ham have unfolded, a change of scene may be just what he needs to rediscover his mojo.

The rumoured fee of £10 million seems about the going rate for a striker of his quality in today’s market, particularly when you consider the inflated nature of transfer fees during the January window.

I’m quite sure plenty will rally against the move over the next few days but a career goal return of better than a goal every three games shouldn’t be sniffed at given our current predicament at the head of the side. Could it turn out to be a terrible piece of business on our part? Of course it has that potential but I certainly won’t be blaming those behind the scenes for pushing it through.

Let’s just hope Diafra is ready and willing to prove a few doubters wrong in SE25.

Hold on a minute a offer in for Babacar, fee agreed for Sako and on going negotiations with a keeper Freedman must have got out of bed yesterday unless he’s doing more than sources on here suggest ?

One more Sakho plus a Sako = a lot of Sak.
Let’s hope the £10m we are reported to be paying for this Sakho has a lot of strings attached.
