Crystal Palace’s dreadful start to the 2017/18 Premier League season came to an abrupt end on Saturday with a 2-1 home victory over champions Chelsea, leaving one prominent Chelsea YouTuber open to endless ridicule from across the internet.

Whilst the Eagles’ start of seven games without a point or goal to their names led many across the country to assume they were staring another defeat bang in the face against the Blues, the arrogance and disrespect shown towards both the club and Roy Hodgson by this YouTube “personality” simply has to be highlighted following a game in which the former England boss’ players more than matched Conte’s defending champions.
I can fully understand a degree of confidence from the travelling fans in the build-up to the game; given our respective starts that was inevitable, but there was simply no need for him to pile in on Hodgson in the manner he did, leaving me to feel as though he’s fully deserving of stick from all corners for a few days at the least.
If anything, it was thanks to the influence of Hodgson that our players were able to outwork the visitors in such comprehensive fashion, with the work he and Ray Lewington have been doing on our general shape paying off in a big way on the day. Ask any of his ex-players at club level and they’ll tell you that Roy’s methods, despite being boring, always pay off in the end.
Saturday was a culmination of weeks and weeks of hard graft at the training ground, making the above rant all the more delicious in its irony. Yes, Chelsea have had a great deal more success than us over the years but after a run in which we’ve now won four Premier League games against them in as many years, you can’t help feeling as though they should engage their brains before spewing bile for the world to see.
HLTCO is now completely advert free meaning I need your help. If you can spare a small amount each month to help me pay my bills, I’d be eternally grateful. Thanks.
