VIDEO: This Whole Interview With Wilfried Zaha Is Wonderful

If you were unable to get yourself in front of a TV last night at 10pm, you missed an absolutely fantastic interview with Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha on the Premier League Show. Luckily, you can watch it at your own leisure in full via the link attached just below.

As I said in a piece I wrote previewing the interview being broadcast yesterday morning, Wilfried has often seen his personality unfairly stereotyped by powers well beyond his own control; thankfully last night’s feature with Gabby Logan has redressed the balance somewhat, allowing neutral fans from across the country to see what a lovely lad Zaha is.

The discussion ranges from his earliest memories in this country, to the deep-rooted love affair the 24-year-old shares with the game that has made into a nationwide star. Far removed from the cocky, miserable persona many expect him to show, Wilf comes across as a playful, happy character throughout the programme, admitting to Logan that his on-pitch and off-pitch personalities are figurative oceans apart.

As you would expect, there is talk of his brief dalliance with Manchester United and the lessons he learned from the experience as a whole, whilst Zaha also devotes plenty of time to picking apart his mutual adoration for the Palace faithful, you have backed him wholeheartedly from the moment he made his first-team debut under the management of Paul Hart.

Having watched Wilf grow from a boy into a man over the last seven or so years, I can’t help feeling as though he is the player I will always look towards when others ask me to name my favourite Palace player of all-time. His story of triumph in the face of adversity, mixed with his lightning pace, electric skills and a huge affinity with the south London streets that have been his home from early childhood make that an easy choice for me.

His personality as a whole reflects our football club perfectly and I feel genuinely lucky to have him here.

Enjoy.
