“Frank de Boer Set To Be Sacked?” Give It A Rest, Will You…

1 Posted by - September 6, 2017 - Daily Thoughts, News

One of the most frustrating byproducts of Frank de Boer’s pointless start to life as Crystal Palace manager has been the publication of numerous daily articles speculating over his supposedly imminent sacking.

Yes, I’ll happily admit to having directed your attention to plenty of them over the last 10 days or so, (indeed, I did so yesterday) but now that the international break is drawing to a close, it seems only right to get behind Frank and the players ahead of this Sunday’s trip to Turf Moor, rather than reaching for a dagger with which to stab him.

Had Steve Parish and his fellow directors been desperate to shift the Dutchman from his post, they could have done so in the immediate aftermath of our humbling 2-0 defeat at home to Swansea but they didn’t. That in itself should point towards the assumption that they will be keeping faith with him ahead of our trip to Lancashire this weekend and regardless of any concerns I may have about set-up of the side heading into the clash with Sean Dyche and co. I am determined to back De Boer until the decision is taken out of my hands by those at the top of the Palace totem pole.

Whilst the first few articles regarding Frank’s job security provided a source of intrigue and conversation, it’s beginning to feel as though the press are churning them out at the drop of a hat, simply because they know them to be a sure-fire way of generating decent levels of web traffic with little to no new information being put forward.

The checkpoints which have led us here can be examined in as much or as little detail as you wish depending on personal preference but as things stand, it looks as though Frank de Boer will still be in the Palace dugout for this Sunday’s game. Quite what happens after the final whistle sounds is anyone’s guess but after more than 10 days of constant speculation over his future, I for one am keen to focus on other matters until another round of Premier League fixtures have drawn to a close; I dare say I’m not alone.

Oh ok let’s all change our minds then, your an idiot mate , and pay to sponsor you and read this rubbish jog on you div

    • admin September 6, 2017 - 7:07 am Reply

I didn’t say anything about changing our minds, just suggested that it may be best to fully support the team until a decision is made because he’s clearly not going anywhere prior to this Sunday’s game.

Also, for reference, when digging someone out about being an “idiot”, it’s probably best to make sure you’ve used the correct spelling of “you’re.”

“Your an idiot ” – shouldn’t your handle be “I’m an idiot” ?

  • Chip September 6, 2017 - 7:21 am Reply

I quite agree with you Dan as all of this speculation can only be to the detriment of the team and it’s time to give it a rest until at least Sunday night

    • admin September 6, 2017 - 7:22 am Reply

I think we all know that he’ll go if we lose this weekend, so for the time being, it seems only right to back him and hope for a change of fortunes. A win would be an immense achievement in the circumstances.

  • Spiceboy September 6, 2017 - 7:29 am Reply

Behind the scenes it’s actually frank who is the detriment to the team. His poor man management of the players and their reluctance to buy into his crap style just isn’t working. As I said before he will be gone before Xmas but in truth I think he will be gone after the wknd. Apparently he has no people skills and 0 charisma bit surprised parish got him in but can see why inter binned him so quick. Let’s just hope we don’t get in Roy bloody hodgson though. Also he didn’t want to buy sakho just for the record that was all parish thank god.

Who would you like to see if/when FdB goes, Spiceboy?

  • tzcar September 6, 2017 - 7:30 am Reply

yes, carry on backing a lost cause.you can see the heart has gone out of the team.clearly the player,s are not keen on fdb.and the reason for change now is,look at the fixture list.if palace lose at burnley.do u really want fdb in charge against utd/city and chelsea.this could be nil points after eight games.what chance of survival then?

    • admin September 6, 2017 - 7:32 am Reply

For me, it’s more a case of being powerless to do anything else until a decision is made by the board, Tzcar.

What do we do? Head up to Burnley willing the team to lose? We still need points to our name when all is said and done.

  • Spiceboy September 6, 2017 - 7:33 am Reply

Also to the first comment hoppo does write a good article it’s the is a palace fan the transfer tavern just spout utter crap day in day out I’m sure they r Brighton fans.

After 46 years I finally get to see the 2 club fans and the cool not to support a big six club fans supporting the club. I have said this before but Big Mal took Palace down two consecutive seasons and we still stood behind him as he reinvented the Eagles. While I hope that the talent we have in place keeps us up the whole issue hating a manager after 3 leagues games seems childish to me. Give the man time to change the club for the better. I can’t think of a better manager to bring through young home grown talent and if we are to avoid £30m for a centre back in the future that is what we need!

    • admin September 6, 2017 - 7:46 am Reply

This is merely a question Tony and one that’s being asked as a consequence of genuine curiosity…

Would you keep De Boer regardless of relegation and have him rebuild us from the ground up?

      • alanpardew is class September 6, 2017 - 8:22 am Reply

scratch that tony is a idiot

        • Tony September 6, 2017 - 11:28 am Reply

Yeah probably am an idiot, I have never changed clubs over the years. Want to debate IQs etc?

Serious answer sticking with FdB will not see us go down. Fosu Mensah pushed out to right wing back will see a back 3 of Riedewald, Sakho and probably Dann. Damo will not see game time this year apart from a string of injuries. Left wing back got plenty of choice. That as a defence should be strong enough for the average premiership team. But unless Parish and co are willing to stump up £40m a year plus to reinforce the side we need a strong youth policy. We have to often bottled decisions and giving an experienced manager a chance to change things in my personal opinion is vital for a sustainable club.

If we bring in another manager with another system we may find we have issues of needing to sell to be able to buy. I would prefer a more solid 5-3-1-1 with Wilf being given freedom to roam. I never played above Sunday league but I did qualify as a ref before illness put me in a wheelchair. But looking at where we are I am certain firefighting will fail sooner or later and we just can’t buy our way out every season. People said Villa would never go down they were too good. So lets take a chance and plan for the future for a change.

  • alanpardew is class September 6, 2017 - 8:11 am Reply

sack him and sack him now you’re an idiot
lets look at the last game
he puts chung on infront of cabaye and ward at left back to replace van and leaves shlupp on the bench the mans a fool and any fool can see that
glad you can spell stick to that as you know cock all about football let alone palace you idiot

  • alanpardew is class September 6, 2017 - 8:15 am Reply

I think the point people are making you idiot is your last piece of writing was utter crap you have slated him and rightly so for weeks and now you are trying to persuade us to give him a break, jog on you idiot, im sick of hearing his name , if I behaved like him in my job I would have been sacked by now and quite frankly that is what should happen to you

    you idiot

I can only assume Alan Pardew himself is behind the account, Jon.

  • Robert Kersey September 6, 2017 - 8:49 am Reply

Tony was spot on. Support Frank. We need a manager with his skills and knowledge. Big Sam lost his first 3 league Games( You can’t credit him with draw at Watford.) and only one win in 5.

  • Spiceboy September 6, 2017 - 8:53 am Reply

I gotta agree Tony you are talking out yer butt. You only read and see things from media and on here behind the scenes the players and coaching staff simply don’t like his style and methods. Once you lose the dressing room they simply don’t want to play for you. Like i said he also has no man management skills so please stop trying to back a lost cause.

Hoppo to get out out of this dire situation i would plump for Dyshe. He knows the premier league he knows not to play 3-4-3 at palace as we simply don’t have the mentality for it and i think he would buy half decent players and listen to our youth coaches who to move up. I would also keep a close eye on the Huddersfield manager he is in the klopp mould and would take us forward and you can see how well he gells with his players unlike Frank.

    • admin September 6, 2017 - 9:01 am Reply

Knowing how tight money is now, I’d have happily gone for Dyche over the summer. I’m not sure if he’d swap Burnley for us now though?

  • alanpardew is class September 6, 2017 - 8:59 am Reply

    hahaha based on what ?
with sam you could see him trying players and working out a way to play
danger mouse is all over the shop
ward at lb shlupp on bench
    chung in front of cabaye
    zaha left wing
    do me a favour
cascarino who spent time in the netherlands and worked with db said he was below par even though they won the league

  • Spiceboy September 6, 2017 - 11:26 am Reply

Sharpy as if I am going to tell u that. Like I said watch this space on frank he will be gone soon unless in the unlikely event he shelves his 3-4-3 system then he may cling on a while longer. Seriously sharpy did u not watch the Swansea game?

  • Tony September 6, 2017 - 12:09 pm Reply

I do like the Ad hominem approach to debate. Bottom line FdB said he wants to build the side round Wilf, that needs more flexibility in a side than your standard 4-4-2. Wilf is not a number 10 in the traditional sense and the traditional edges of a 4-4-2 wont suit him. If you are going to allow Wilf to grow to his full potential you need a style that will enable him rather than stifle him. Of course you might be one of these that would be happy to see the back of Wilf but if you play 4-4-2 where do you play him and what instructions? The fact the side is being structured to give Wilf that support might upset others in the team…. it is really what do you want out of the team?

    • admin September 6, 2017 - 12:20 pm Reply

Tony, stop being so measured and reasonable!

Don’t you realise that’s not the way the internet works?!

      • Tony September 6, 2017 - 12:29 pm Reply

I write for a blog and have a blog about online gaming so my brain has been structured to debate in a certain way. If you want me to call names and bite legs it will take some practice.

        • admin September 6, 2017 - 12:47 pm Reply

I think I’ll cope with you staying as you are for the time being.

  • Spiceboy September 6, 2017 - 12:46 pm Reply

Tony mate I dont result to name calling either fella it’s not nice but FDB is a wet blanket and does not inspire the team that is not a quote from me that’s an internal one. Also why would u base a team around one player if that player is out for a season u r theoretically screwed. No top flight team changes their whole model to accommodate one player that’s just insane. I’m happy with wilf as a winger or behind benteke I am certainly not happy with ward & pva as attacking wing backs r u? No back up keeper or striker that’s down to the manager pathetic

    • Tony September 6, 2017 - 1:05 pm Reply

The back up striker fell through at negotiation stage at the only reason he was talking to us was FdB. The goalkeeper was released apparently to allow a free agent to join but will wait and see. I would rather see Fosu Mensah to play in place of Ward. He has experience playing that position. However Schlupp and PvA have experience playing as a wingback plus with Pape returning we have choices. However if FdB gets the sack we go back to long bal?l And hope someone is skillful enough to get it? Wilf is our marquee player but as you are happy to not build a team around him given the club budget how do you find a marquee player and recruit him? We don’t have hundreds of millions so bottom line do you want the club to go back to the Pulis style? Because that is the way we will finish up, we see the future of the club differently but name a manager we could get that would be able to bring through youngsters as well as or better than FdB? We are constrained with budgets and sacking FdB may be far to expensive anyway.

  • Sharpy September 6, 2017 - 1:34 pm Reply

Yes a watched the Swansea game and watched a performance the same as last year at home under Big Sam, what makes players look like they don’t care and not be able to make a pass any of us could do in our sleep. I play footfall with three lads that have been released by CPFC and they still hang out with players still at the club and they say everyone’s enjoying the training. Parish has said he wanted us to play three at the back which is what he brought De Bore in for.

  • Tony September 6, 2017 - 1:37 pm Reply

Question for everyone, we have Mr Freedman back as director of football. I was lead to believe he was in charge of player recruitment, FdB explains who he wants as the director of football is suppose to recruit the players. I would think Dougie needs to take at least part of the blame in the failure to sign players. Unless of course I got my understanding completely wrong?
