Could FdB Be On The Verge Of The Sack? It Certainly Seems That Way

The last 24 hours have seen rumours aplenty surfacing over the immediate future of Crystal Palace manager Frank de Boer, with the below article from The Guardian adding further fuel to the flames over his potentially imminent sacking.

This piece, written by Dominic Fifield, confirms that the board are considering Frank de Boer’s future.

On a number of levels, the decision to relieve the Dutchman of his duties seems unwise. Admittedly, the club have struggled hugely to adapt to his possession-based style of play in the opening weeks of the 2017/18 campaign but with just three days left in the summer transfer window and plenty of business still needing to be done, any move which leaves us leaderless could easily be painted as a white flag over our survival in the division.

Having heard from Steve Parish only a week or so ago about the tight nature of our transfer budget thanks to the looming threat of Financial Fair Play, plenty of people are rightly asking questions over why the board plumped for a manager in De Boer who was always going to attempt to implement a totally new style, rather than moving for a man like Sean Dyche, who is known to be comfortable operating with the sort of players we already have at our disposal.

The return of Dougie Freedman last week, in the role of Sporting Director, set tongues wagging over the possibility of him replacing Frank in the short-term but as of yet, such things remain the stuff of pure speculation on behalf of a fan-base desperately grasping for some sense of stability after what has been a truly terrible start to the new campaign.

It may seem ridiculous to sack a manager with a transfer deadline so close on the horizon but this is Crystal Palace Football Club, there is literally nothing which should be considered as impossible.

Like I said players don’t like the new system they r clashing with him over it behind the scenes. Something needs to give and watching us play his system so far have a feeling it will be him. Sakho will happen though I’m sure on that

So we have players who cannot play basic football systems! The manager and his staff (incl Sammy) are the best we have ever had. The Manager was spot on – they lack fight and determination from the start.
We need Sakho for all the qualities he brings – not just as a brilliant proven defender but as a leader who I would make captain. (worth every penny of £30ml.
Come on board, buy Sakho an attacking midfield player and a decent goalkeeper. Loftus-Cheek,Fosu Mensah and Riedewald are great deals, add Benteke , Cabaye and Milivojevic and we have the making of a very good team. With some decent youngsters coming along I am ever hopeful.
