VIDEO: Manchester United’s Fosu-Mensah Looks Like A Great Signing For Palace

It looks to all intents and purposes as though Manchester United youngster Timothy Fosu-Mensah is on his way to Crystal Palace on a season-long loan deal but what can Eagles expect from the Dutchman during his stay?

This video gives a true flavour of the sort of player Fosu-Mensah is. It’s fair to say, he absolutely loves a tackle.

Already well known to Frank de Boer given the Ajax connection they share, Tim is almost certainly well versed in the wing-back system the new Palace gaffer is likely to implement at Selhurst Park. Highly thought of by fans and coaches alike at Old Trafford, it’s hoped that he will slot in seamlessly, offering Frank another defensive option with which to approach the opening game of the season at home to Huddersfield on Saturday afternoon.

Whilst loan moves may not be to everybody’s taste, the inclusion of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fosu-Mensah, alongside the permanent arrival of Jairo Riedewald point towards a distinct effort on the part of the manager to implement a more possession based style in SE25, without forcing the less technically gifted within our ranks to alter their own games too dramatically.

Obviously, as we have seen with the Mamadou Sakho saga this summer, loans rarely work out well for the receiving club in the long-term but if the pair who have come in this summer can usher in a new, successful style of play, it bodes well for the recruitment process in future windows, when de Boer has truly got his feet under the table in Beckenham.

It appears as though we’re edging towards a starting back three of Riedewald on the left, Dann and in the centre and Fosu-Mensah on the right when we welcome the Terriers in a few days time but that may just be me jumping the gun a tad. What I do know from speaking to United’s supporters, is that Tim has looked better than ever in pre-season with almost everyone convinced that he’s set for something of a breakout year in red and blue.

From what I can see on the excellent video attached at the top of the page, we’ve got ourselves a real player.

Enjoy.

Gotta feel a bit sorry for Tomkins he played very well tail end of last season and then has been replaced by Luka (which was laughable) and now mensa. Ok he is not a ball playing defender but sometimes as we have seen many times with John stones faffing about at the back becomes costly. I hope he gets a shot bring back Tomkins. Please palace sign a keeper and decent back up winger & striker for the love of god. Sell sakho asap

Do you think this signing means Chambers is out of the question? Stoke are also rumoured to be completing a deal for Martins-Indi this week.

Our loans are looking good, unfortunately our signings are not. Net spend of only about £5m this window so far?

Looks like Stoke have secured BMI and our interest in Chambers may now have ended because of the loan of TFM. He is a strong defender, but not a wingback so we still desperately need a keeper, a right wing back and forward cover.

This signing, whilst a being a good, versatile player, does not address any of the deficiencies in our team. The only player i can think of who plays RWB and ST is Dirk Kuyt and, despite being Dutch, i am fairly certain is now retired.

Can Dirk Kuyt play in goal too? Might be worth giving him a bell regardless.

I’m still pretty hopeful of all three Richard, although I share your frustration.

Lokito, puncheon poor not premiership. Townsend does not last 90 minutes! We need Cabaye (where is he) do we need cover in goal? Now Mandanda has gone who will replace him?

Yohan has a minor injury, he’s back soon. A new keeper will arrive in time, I’m sure.
