VIDEO: A Showcase Of The Different Sides To Jairo Riedewald’s Game

Having officially made the move from Ajax to Crystal Palace last week, Jairo Riedewald will be hoping to have an instant impact in SE25, regardless of the position he's asked to play by Frank de Boer.

This video showcases all the different sides of Jairo Riedewald's game. He really is a versatile young player.

With de Boer's Palace reign still in its infancy, no one is quite sure how he plans to set the side up once the Premier League gets underway. There has been plenty said about the Dutchman adopting a system which uses three defenders rather than the traditional four, meaning that Riedewald would almost certainly slot in on the left-hand side of that trio but with no proof of such plans, this is just pure speculation on my part.

As I've said in previous articles, Jairo is also known to be comfortable in a defensive midfield role having been tested there by de Boer's successor Peter Bosz. Thanks to a ludicrously wide passing rage and a head-up style of play, it's a position he seemingly took to with no fuss, giving Frank another midfield option if the situation calls for it at some stage over the next nine months.

There have been one or two comments left on HLTCO encouraging me to stop hyping up Riedewald given his tender age but I would argue that his youthfulness is a reason to do exactly that. It's not often that the club invest in such a young player, particularly from abroad and with de Boer keen to implement a more possession-based style in south London, the 20-year-old is rightly being looked upon as the first piece in large jigsaw puzzle.

You may personally be keen to keep a lid on expectations for the Ajax academy man but as our only permanent transfer of the summer window to date, I don't think any Palace fan should be lambasted for holding out hope of him having a big future at the club. He seems a remarkable confident lad and on Saturday against Metz we should get our first sight of him in red and blue.

I for one can't wait.

HLTCO has no adverts, we cannot survive without your help.

More hype, how much did his agent pay for these videos, what ever it has paid off he has been signed by Crystal Palace. The more of this I see the more I think we could have been sold a dud.

Well that might have been true if Pardew had signed him Malcolm, but it is FDB who knows him and has worked with him before. You wouldn’t have thought he would buy a crap player just for the hell of it would you?

Richard it’s been a while since Frank managed him a lot can change in two years. I hope he has a great career at Palace but let us stop the hype he is still young with little first team experience.
