Wilfried Zaha has been a hot topic of discussion across the country in the last week or so. Whether it's as a consequence of embarrassing full-backs, getting kicked by said defenders or being on the receiving end of disgraceful racist abuse, his name has certainly been on people's lips.
I personally embarked upon an extended rant on Wilf's behalf on the HLTCO Twitter page on Saturday evening, having become sick of seeing journalists and neutral fans speak poorly of the winger with absolutely no realistic justification for far too long. Of course, plenty could accuse me of donning red and blue tinted glasses but as anyone who watches the above montage can see, Zaha has hit the ground sprinting this July.
Each and every season, we all worry that the rough tactics used by opposition defenders will result in a serious injury for Wilf but rarely have we seen individuals try so hard to hurt the wide-man during pre-season fixtures. Once the dust settles it's easy to laugh at the opposition for resorting to kicking him but during the games themselves, Wilf, his teammates and the Palace fan-base as a whole are always quick to feel their blood rising.
Last season was easily the most productive of Zaha's still young career but if the above footage is anything to go by, he's all set to take another giant step forward in the upcoming campaign, which can only bode well for him and Crystal Palace FC.
He's not even played 180 minutes this season but he's already stolen the show.
