I’ll be straight with you readers, the article attached immediately below this opening paragraph is so laughably uninformed, I’m still unsure over whether or not the writer was on a wind-up when putting it together yesterday.
Any supporter of either Crystal Palace or Liverpool will be well aware that both the Eagles hierarchy and fan-base are desperate to bring the Frenchman to Selhurst Park on a permanent basis this summer, following his hugely successful loan spell with the club last season.
Over the last week or so, the sporting press has been awash with stories claiming that the Reds price-tag of £30 million is the only thing stopping Steve Parish and co. pulling the trigger on a deal, with personal terms already thought to have been agreed between Sakho’s representatives and the Palace top brass.
It is with those facts in mind that I feel compelled to point you in the direction of the above piece, written for the “Transfer Tavern” by a certain Hayden Atkins regarding the immediate future of the aforementioned central defender. I don’t think I’m overstating things when I say that almost every major assumption made in the article is incorrect and after re-reading it twice just to make sure, I’m almost certain that the author has written it with genuine intentions, rather then playing it for comedy value.
In the space of just a few hundred words, Atkins manages to get the reported transfer fee so far wrong you are left wondering where he’s even seen it quoted, completely misrepresents Palace’s position in relation to Sakho’s personal terms, use the phrase “added some much needed metal in the Palace back-line” when he actually meant “mettle” and incorrectly capitalises “de Boer” by writing “De Boer” instead. The last one may be minor but having sifted through his utter garbage just before, I couldn’t help but pick up on it.
I dare say a few of you will be wondering why I’m making such a big thing of the article in question but as someone who takes tremendous pride in the work that I do on HLTCO, I can’t quite believe that articles of such a shoddy standard are being published on supposedly reputable football news sites.
Whether or not you enjoyed my rant, I really do encourage you to go and have a look at the article in question. It is a complete car crash from start to finish.
