Yannick Bolasie may be an Everton player now but he left no one in any doubt over where his true allegiances lie during Frank de Boer’s opening press conference as Crystal Palace manager earlier on today.
Despite leaving the club for a big money move to Everton at the end of last season’s summer transfer window, the Londoner clearly still keeps an eye on the goings on at SE25 and was as excited as anyone to see Dutch legend Frank de Boer confirmed as the club’s new boss in front of the world’s press this afternoon.
Whilst plenty of fans were unsure about Yannick’s loyalties in the immediate aftermath of his move to Goodison Park, his tweets ever since the move have shown that he still cares a great deal about the club with today’s appearance on Periscope proving it yet again.
The DR Congo international suffered a serious injury last season, leaving him with a lot more spare time to interact with the Eagles’ faithful but even so, his obvious dismay at seeing Palace fans react angrily to a tackle he put in with he played against us for the first time on Merseyside in the opening months of the campaign spoke volumes.
Now expected to begin the 2017/18 campaign fit and raring to under Ronald Koeman’s watchful eye for the Toffees, he will definitely be relishing the opportunity to show what he could do against a Palace side managed by another Dutchman with a similar philosophy in the shape of de Boer.
You wouldn’t expect Everton fans to get too bent out of shape over Yannick’s continuing love affair with Palace but you never can be sure how this sort of thing will go down with different sets of supporters.
I for one am glad to see Yannick has still got both red and blue in his heart.
