FACT: CPFC Fans Would Rather Die A Painful Death Than Have Hodgson As Boss

The speculation surrounding Crystal Palace’s next managerial appointment looks set to continue for at least a few more days but it’s safe to say that Eagles fans definitely don’t want to see former England boss Roy Hodgson take up residence in the Selhurst Park dugout.

This poll sees Palace fans choosing a “slow and painful death” over Roy Hodgson in massive numbers. I concur.

Since Sam Allardyce decided to call time on his stay in SE25, we have seen a very public pursuit of Marco Silva go sideways after the Portuguese was offered a contract by Watford and now, it looks as though Steve Parish is biding his time before taking the plunge on a new man.

It is thanks to this period of relative inactivity that bookies all over the country appear to have seized upon Hodgson’s willingness to get back into management as a reason to suggest he may soon take up the post at Palace, even though supporters are dead set against the idea.

If you are allowing yourself to forget the shambolic showing England produced at the 2016 European Championships and prefer instead to look at the admittedly good work Roy undertook whilst in charge of Fulham and West Brom, it’s probably a sound idea to remember that Wilfried Zaha (a man consistently shunned by Hodgson at international level) has just put pen to paper on a new five-year deal with the club. I don’t profess to know much but I’m pretty sure that Steve Parish will be keen not to upset his star man mere days after securing his long-term future.

What started as nothing more than a light-hearted joke from yours truly on Twitter this morning has actually gone on to demonstrate the desperation amongst Palace fans to appoint anyone other than Hodgson after recent reports of his interest in the role.

I dare say we weren’t considering a move anyway but the fact that so many people would prefer to die than see him take charge of the club certainly does put things into perspective.

Never was a truer word said! Why on earth at the age of 69 would someone consider a new job in the pressure cooker that is the PL. Retire please and let’s see some youth with some new ideas.

I don’t for a second expect Parish to give him the job, Richard. That being said, the mere thought of it makes me feel violently ill.

are you joking??Hodgson an ideal choice as next manager!!Perfect replacement for Allardyce !
What we do not want is yet another relegation battle on our hands!!Marco Silva far too much of
a risk. Not sure about Gary Monk either!!Plenty of investment needed also!!!

Richard G, if international football had leagues we would have been relegated. He took a reasonably talented England squad and did the square root of nothing with them and yet you think he should be our manager. Sorry, you are quite entitled to your opinion, but this would be a backward step for us.
