VIDEO: This Montage Of Palace’s 2016-17 Season Is Absolutely Fantastic

The 2016-17 Premier League season has been a roller-coaster ride for Crystal Palace fans. Luckily, thanks to the always excellent work of one particular fan, we have a wonderful video summary of the campaign attached below.

This video of Palace’s 2016-17 season is absolutely stunning. It’s beautifully edited and captures the club’s spirit perfectly.

Having started the season with a monumental hangover from the disappointment of the FA Cup Final last May, Alan Pardew and his players stumbled through the opening weeks like a boxer struggling to regain his composure after a sequence of stinging blows. Whilst the players’ sluggish start was understandable in many ways, it didn’t do a great deal for Pardew’s job security and after a few months of uncertainly, Steve Parish pulled the trigger and relieved the former Newcastle boss of his duties with a noticeably heavy heart.

Despite acting quickly to replace Pardew with Sam Allardyce, the team’s upturn in form was far from immediate. There is definitely an argument to suggest that the new gaffer wasn’t quite aware of the size of the task when he first took up residence in his Beckenham office but slowly, he and his coaching staff began to drag results out from what was a genuinely talented yet underperforming group of players.

The addition of Mamadou Sakho, Luka Milivojevic, Patrick Van Aanholt and Jeffrey Schlupp in January definitely had a huge impact on the club’s fortunes but even so, pundits across the country still seem to underplay the quality of the work done by Allardyce in the few months he was at the helm.

The above video is hugely impressive, not just because it manages to collate all the key moments of another hugely tumultuous season in south London but because it does so in a manner that captures the spirit of our football club without straying into the realms of corniness.

It may not have been the most successful of seasons but we had our fair share of high points along the way; a fact that this video sums up wonderfully well.
