Parish Suggests Palace Won’t Make A Move For Chelsea Man This Summer

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has pretty much confirmed that the club won’t be pursuing a permanent deal for Loic Remy this summer during a recent interview with Holmesdale Radio.

These quotes confirm that the Chelsea man is almost certain to return to Stamford Bridge when the season ends.

When he first arrived in SE25 hopes amongst supporters were high for the French striker. Having made a name for himself in spells at Newcastle, QPR and Chelsea, most were fully convinced of his goalscoring prowess but unfortunately, this campaign has been one disaster after another for him off the field, leading to almost no game time in red and blue since August.

Luckily for us, Christian Benteke has made it through the entire campaign with next to no injuries, meaning that the ACL trouble sustained by Connor Wickham was nowhere near as big a disaster as it could have been in our battle to beat the drop. Of course, had Remy been fit and raring to go every week, it would have given both Alan Pardew and Sam Allardyce a fantastic option from the bench but for a multitude of different reasons, we’ve been unable to call upon his services for the most part.

With Fraizer Campbell’s contract set to expire in the next couple of weeks, we should probably expect both he and Remy to leave the club this summer, opening up two places for attacking reinforncements to be added to the squad alongside Benteke and Wickham.

Having already spoken about a potential move for Jermain Defoe earlier this morning, it feels as though the club are finally close to piecing together a squad that has genuine strength in depth throughout, which should, barring any major disasters, see us further cement our place as a Premier League regular in the coming years.

Remy had every chance of becoming a cult hero at Selhurst Park but sometimes, the best laid plans come to nothing. There are certainly no hard feelings towards him from me.

His contributions will be sorely missed next season. The physios won’t know what to do with themselves!

Given Bamford and Remy’s Palace record can all Palace fans agree Tammy Abraham is not a valid option for next season!
