As Crystal Palace ran out comfortable 4-0 winners over Hull City yesterday lunchtime, on loan Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho could be found lapping up the adoration of the Eagles faithful from the touchline.
After badly injuring himself in the home defeat against Tottenham Hotspur a few weeks ago, Mamadou has no chance of playing again before the season draws to a close but having made a gigantic impact upon the Palace faithful during his short stint with us, there is a real desire from the stands to get him signed up for the long haul in SE25.
Having fallen out publicly with current Reds boss Jurgen Klopp over the last year, the chances of him reestablishing himself in the Liverpool first-team look to be nigh on nonexistent, leaving him no choice but to seek out pastures new. Of course, the towering central defender is likely to have offers from all over the globe throughout the summer but if the above video is anything to go by, the big man is leaning towards extending his stay in South London above anything else.
Whilst you can be sure that Mamadou will command a hefty weekly wage packet, you will find few if any genuine Crystal Palace fans who honestly think the team would be playing Premier League football in the 2017/18 season without his influence both on and off the pitch since he arrived back at the start of the year.
Having played a major part in the victories over West Brom, Chelsea and Arsenal his presence was also felt in the monumtal win over his current employers on Merseyside, when a certain Christian Benteke bagged two goals to send he and his teammates back to the capital with all three points to look after.
In truth, Mamadou Sakho has been a true revelation in red and blue. We’d all love him to stay and it seems as though he feels the same way. Happy days.
