This season may not have been the most enjoyable one on record for Palace fans but with just three games left to play, it’s fair to say that the boys have scored some absolute crackers since August.
Given the awful run we went on in the months prior to Alan Pardew’s dismissal, it’s easy to forget what an impressive campaign we’ve had on the goalscoring front. Admittedly, the majority of the goals featured in this video were scored after Big Sam arrived in the Palace dugout but there are still plenty of strikes from the run-up to Christmas too.
I’m sure opinion will be split amongst supporters as to the single best effort from the last nine months, with Cabaye’s sweeping shot against Arsenal, either goal from our win away at Chelsea and Zaha’s thunderbolt against Hull all guaranteed to be popular but for me, Andros Townsend’s solo effort against West Brom deserves the accolade.
Ideally, today’s game against Manchester City will see at least one more candidate added to the list of contenders for goal of the season, followed by three prescious points. It may seem like an outlandish prediction at first but we must remember that Big Sam has guided the players to away victories over both Chelsea and Liverpool within the last six weeks.
In truth, our game at home to Hull is the far more likely venue for the victory which would secure our top flight status heading into 2017/18, hopefully finished off with a strike worthy of beating any of the goals featured in the montage at the top of the page.
