Klopp’s New £50 Million Target Paves The Way For Sakho’s Palace Move

Crystal Palace fans all over the world are desperate for the club to try and make Mamadou Sakho’s loan from Liverpool permanent during the summer transfer window and now, it looks as though Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has identified the Frenchman’s long-term replacement.

This feature names the man Klopp has identified to step into Sakho’s shoes, paving the way for Palace to swoop in.

The towering central defender has made a massive impact at Selhurst Park in the handful of games he’s featured in to date, helping the team claw themselves away from the relegation zone with wins against the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Middlesbrough.

With Scott Dann facing a prolonged spell on the sidelines and James Tomkins still recovering from an injury he sustained at Stamford Bridge, Sakho’s presence has been huge for Sam Allardyce and the rest of his players, leading every supporter to pray that Steve Parish and co. can work something out with the big man’s representatives when his loan deal comes to an end.

Until now, plenty of “experts” have ruled out Palace’s chances of convincing Sakho to stay with us for the long haul but as anyone who has paid serious attention to his on-field demeanor with us will tell you, the French international really is loving his time under Big Sam. Whilst his wage demands are bound to be rather large, it’s not impossible to envisage a scenario that would allow us to accommodate him alongside our other top earners, particularly with another chunk of Premier League TV money in the bank.

Perhaps the most important aspect of all amongst the mountains of speculation, is the news that Klopp himself is already making serious plans for life after Mamadou, figuratively sounding the death knell for the defender’s time on Merseyside. He will of course have plenty of other offers on the table but the love he’s currently enjoying from the Palace faithful may just sway his mind in our direction when push comes to shove.

On our way of signing him, if not we should go after John Brooks.

Need to figure out how to keep Zaha as I think he is almost on his way out

Marvellous, we will pay for half of Virgil. Shame we missed out on him ourselves, I know we were looking at him before his latest move. He is, most definitely not twice the player Sakho is though, so let’s hope it pans out for us.

I was all over the idea of signing VVJ, Richard.

I seem to remember plenty of Palace fans telling me he wasn’t that good because he was “playing in a weak league.” We both knew the score. 😉
