Wilfried Zaha’s stock is arguably at its highest ever point following Monday night’s 3-0 win over Arsenal, prompting Palace chairman Steve Parish to speak about the winger’s long-term future.
The last few weeks have seen Sam Allardyce and his players embark on an incredible run of form, picking up an astounding 15 points from the last 18 on offer. Whilst the whole squad deserves credit for the results we’ve gained, it’s fair to say that Wilfried Zaha has been at the heart of it all, driving his teammates forward whenever he’s had the ball at his feet.
The last 10 days or so have seen Manchester City thrown into the ring as serious contenders for his signature alongside Tottenham Hotspur but I, along with thousands upon thousands of Palace fans am desperately hoping that an agreement can be ironed out between Wilfried and the club which sees him staying with us for the long haul.
There is no doubt that Zaha is currently in the middle of his best ever season as a professional; backing up the scintillating tricks and speed that have always been part of his arsenal with the “end product” that the likes of Alan Shearer and Stan Collymore like to prattle on about whenever they’re given a soapbox to shout from.
With that in mind, the comments from Steve Parish attached above come at the perfect moment, calming any supporters who may have been getting a tad edgy over our chances of keeping the academy graduate on our books beyond May.
The man himself tweeted “Palace No Matter What” in the aftemath of Monday night’s victory over Arsenal, setting tongues wagging amongst our fan-base. Now, Steve Parish has added more fuel to the fire.
Life is good.
