Crystal Palace produced a stunning 3-0 victory at home to Arsenal last night, thanks in no small part to a glorious strike from Yohan Cabaye.
The last few weeks have seen stories surface of a possible move back to France for Cabaye but if his performance and celebration after last night’s goal is anything to go by, he has absolutely no intention of leaving Selhurst Park for quite some time.
Despite not producing assists and goals with the regularity he would have hoped for this term, few if any Palace fans can deny that Cabaye has always given 100% when he’s pulled on a red and blue shirt. You need only to have seen the drop off in our performance when he was substituted at half-time away to Southampton to see how pivotal he is to our general play when he’s on top of his game.
Partnered happily in the middle of the field with January arrival Luka Milivojevic, Yohan has gone from strength to strength in recent weeks, happy to influence games directly as a consequence of the faith shown in him by Big Sam and the coaching staff.
A few fans may have questioned the midfielder’s commitment to the cause a month or two ago but as you can see from the video attached at the top of the page, his passion for the shirt is stronger than ever before as things stand.
Prior to Allardyce arriving, questions were rightly being raised over whether or not the current crop of players felt the level of passion for the club as those who had come before them. With those prior doubts in mind, Sam deserves an immense amount of credit for helping them to rediscover their fighting spirit.
We really do look like a different team to the one he took charge of at the turn of the year. If anything embodies that, it’s Yohan’s face in the video above.
