VIDEO: Watch Andros Townsend’s Stunning 130 Yard Winner Against WBA

Crystal Palace cruised to an incredibly impressive 2-0 victory over West Brom at The Hawthorns yesterday, courtesy of goals from Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend, the latter of which is unquestionably a contender for our goal of the season to date.

This video sees Townsend carry the ball 130 yards, jinking past the last defender and smashing in the winner. Stunning.

Andros hasn’t made the greatest of starts to life in SE25 since making the switch from Newcastle but the last few weeks have seen the England midfielder playing like a man possessed, with yesterday’s triumph proving to be his best display in a Palace shirt.

Aided by the threat of Wilfried Zaha on the opposite flank, Townsend’s tireless running and desire to put the Baggies to the sword saw us playing on the front foot from the moment yesterday’s game kicked off.

Having come in for a fair bit of criticism from the Eagles faithful in the opening weeks of the campaign for a perceived lack of interest, the winger’s fantastic recent displays are prompting plenty of fans to question the man-management skills of former boss Alan Pardew, who was seemingly incapable of motivating his big money signing.

At no point in yesterday’s clash did Townsend look like his former apathetic self, tracking back willingly, putting in tackles whenever the opportunity arose and gleefully carrying the ball upfield to spring a counter-attack as soon as he saw the chance.

Indeed, his goal was the perfect embodiment of his shift in attitude, picking the ball up in his own box before embarking on a lung-bursting 130 yard dash into the West Brom penalty area, beating defenders for fun and slotting a shot past Ben Foster at pace. It was a truly glorious moment for everyone of a red and blue persuasion.

Sunday’s feel infinitely better following a Palace win; even more so when the goals we’ve scored are so pleasing on the eye.

Enjoy.
