Crystal Palace loanee Freddie Ladapo has taken to life at Shrewsbury Town like a duck to water, bagging his fourth goal for the Shrews in Saturday’s huge 1-0 win over Scunthorpe United.
The former Margate man has now scored four goals in six games for the League One outfit, enabling them to climb away from the dreaded drop-zone in fine fashion; with yesterday’s victory on the road arguably their most impressive result since Freddie first made the move to New Meadow.
There were genuine questions being raised over Ladapo’s true potential during a loan spell at Oldham earlier this season where he notched just three goals in 22 games but this latest burst has certainly silenced his doubters. As people often say, strikers thrive on confidence; something that Ladapo readily credits Shrewsbury manager Paul Hurst with instilling in him since making the switch at the start of 2017.
After a year or so of almost endless frustration for Palace fans at first-team level, the fine form of Ladapo, coupled with rave reviews for Keshi Anderson and Hiram Boateng at Northampton, offer a degree of comfort for us in relation to the potential line-up we could be watching in years to come.
Granted, none of us can be sure if the aforementioned trio truly have what it takes to succeed at the highest level but after such a prolonged spell of disappointment in SE25, there are plenty of fans who are openly calling for a the youngsters to be given a chance to impress sooner rather than later.
At the above video shows, Freddie Ladapo is in the form of his life right now; long may it continue.
