Crystal Palace have supposedly made a late move for Serbian international midfielder Luka Milivojevic, as they look to add further bulk to the centre of their midfield.
Although the news has come out of left field to some extent, Milivojevic is highly rated by numerous clubs across Europe, having been the subject of interest from many of Palace’s Premier League competitors in recent months.
Whilst Olympiakos are currently cruising towards the Greek Super League title, (they’re 13 points clear of second placed Panionios after just 18 games) the lure of the English game has seemingly provoked Milivojevic into pushing for a move, with the Eagles happy to offer the Serbian a chance to test his skills at a higher level from week to week.
Many Palace fans feel that the club has failed to fill the sizeable gap left by Mile Jedinak’s departure in the summer; a position that Milivojevic looks ready-made to step into if his career to date is anything to go by. Of course, it will take him a few weeks to get up to speed with the English game but from everything we’ve heard about the central midfielder’s attributes, he should add some much needed steel in the middle of the park.
Today is sure to be a frantic one given a full fixture list coinciding with the transfer deadline but there appears to be genuine hope of this deal being wrapped up well before we kick-off against the Cherries this evening.
We’ll keep you updated.
