Crystal Palace’s latest signing Jeffrey Schlupp may have split opinion amongst Leicester fans during his time with the Foxes but the video attached below is likely to impress any Eagles fans who are concerned about the money we’ve spent on him.
A graduate of Leicester’s academy, Schlupp’s all-action style appears to have garnered a decent number of detractors within the defending champions’ fan-base but amongst the numerous critical comments, you do find one or two individuals who are quick to sing the 24-year-old’s praises.
As you can see from the video above, Jeffrey seems to be extremely happy to take a shot at goal when the opportunity presents itself, whilst also possessing a frightening amount of pace; an attribute which should serve him well in a side that have often been at their best when playing on the counter-attack.
Whilst the tag of “Premier League winner” can often be a misleading title for a player, (let’s not forget that Ross Turnbull has a Champions League medal) Schlupp did make 24 appearances from a possible 38 in Leicester’s title run, many of which were starts rather than five minute cameos with the game well out of sight.
In many ways, those figures point towards the left-sided powerhouse being the sort of player that managers and coaches often see a great deal more value in than your average fan; an assumption backed up by Ranieri’s admiration for him, as well as the three-way tug of war between Allardyce, Tony Pulis and Steve Bruce over the last week or so. Obviously, everyone is entitled to their opinion but it’s fair to say that those four men are seldom too far wrong when weighing up an individual’s true value to a squad.
Have a look at the video yourself and let us know what you think. I for one was pleasantly surprised by what I found.
