The first serious rumour of a January transfer move has arrived in the shape of Montpellier left-back Jerome Roussillon, which will no doubt be music to the ears of Palace fans everywhere.
Following Pape Souare’s horrific car crash in the early weeks of the current Premier League campaign, Palace have made little secret of their desire to bring in a replacement sooner rather than later in the January transfer window, with the Montpellier man seemingly fitting the bill rather well on first viewing.
Still only 23, the Frenchman has spent his entire career to date in the French pyramid, beginning his time as a professional with Sochaux before moving to Montpellier in 2015. Made in much the same mould as Souare, the man he would be replacing in the long-term, it seems like a sensible like-for-like deal, allowing the team to maintain a similar style as a back four to the one they planned towards back in the summer.
Of course, Big Sam’s tactical preferences may not bed in completely with those Alan Pardew was keen to pursue but with numbers so light in SE25, particularly in relation to the defence, it would no suprise to see Parish and Allardyce making a swift and decisive bid for Roussillon’s services in plenty of time for our next Premier League fixture away to West Ham on January 14th.
One of the benefits associated with modern football and the internet is the sheer depth of information you can quickly uncover about a whole range of players from across the globe, with the above feature on Roussillion acting as the perfect example of the far-reaching analysis you are now able to uncover at the click of a button from the moment a transfer rumour first surfaces.
Have a read and see what you think. I certainly wouldn’t be against us making an early bid for him.
