VIDEO: Watch The England U17 Star Who Has Chosen Palace Over Tottenham

Crystal Palace have added to their academy ranks with the signing of highly-rated England Under 17 international Nya Kirby.

This video shows Kirby at his playmaking best in the centre of England’s midfield. He looks to be a fantastic prospect.

Having originally been on the books at Tottenham, Kirby was reported to have left them over the summer before enjoying spells with both Chelsea and Arsenal. Clearly, despite the prestige attached to all three of those clubs, Kirby himself has been keen to keep his options open with news now breaking to suggest that he has in fact signed professional terms with Crystal Palace instead.

Born in January of 2000, (I bet that made you feel old) Kirby’s stylish play is almost certain to make an instant impression on you. Easily recognisable thanks to a huge mop of hair, his comfort in possession stands out within the first few seconds of the video attached above, leaving no one in any doubt over why he has spent time on the books of three London rivals already.

Whilst there are now frequent grumbles from within the Palace fan-base over our lack of youth development in recent years, we should commend the club for the signing of Kirby, a player who could just go on to become a first-team regular in years to come if he is prepared to work hard in a bid to earn professional recognition in the early stages of his time in SE25.

Of course, watchers of the first-team are unlikely to see Kirby for at least a year or two at the very earliest but in a landscape that has become more and more obsessed with big-money signings in each and every transfer window, there is a lot to be said for a deal such as this taking place. It may not have recieived a great deal of attention in recent seasons but those behind the scenes in Palace’s academy are clearly still striving for perfection.

Now we’re talking. Just the sort of player we need for the future. What we need to support this is a system of filtering our young talent into the team rather than buying has-beens to do a job and sending all the youngsters out on permanent loan.

Watched this lad in pre season and he stood out with his willingness to receive the ball in any situation and good passing wether simple three yard passes or defence splitting longer passes. One thing was obvious is he isn’t the biggest, the video attached makes him look bigger than he is.
A great addition all the same.

Palace have got themselves a great player. I’m gutted he didn’t stay at Spurs but hope it works out to be a good move for him as he has amazing potential. Also pleased he wasn’t just chasing a payday, which was the rumour. I hope there is a buy back clause!
