Following the tragic passing of 19-year-old Crystal Palace fan Dane Chinnery earlier this week, his family have set up a GoFundMe page to help them with the cost of his funeral.
The horrifying events of Wednesday morning have left people across South London and far further afield in a state of collective mourning, provoking people to ponder the fragile nature of human life.
In truth, the immediate reaction of the local community has given a huge amount of comfort to the families and friends of those hurt by the crash, with thousands upon thousands making sure that their messages of condolence are heard by those at the heart of this horrible incident.
Within the last 24 hours, Crystal Palace have confirmed that there will indeed by a minute’s silence held immediately before the team take on Manchester City at Selhurst Park next Saturday after being given the all clear by the Premier League shortly before the announcement was made. Of course, the loss of both Dane and Phillip Seary as Palace fans adds a degree of poignancy to the accident for those attached to the club, but as a key part of the local community, it seems only fitting that the Eagles should hold a period of reflection in honour of all who lost their lives.
If you be able to spare anything at all in honour of Dane please do so via the link attached above, with every penny added towards the fund aiding his family as they plan a send off befitting of his much-loved character.
