VIDEO: Alan Pardew Drops An Embarrassing Gaffe On Live NFL Broadcast

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew dropped a genuine clanger when being interviewed pitch-side at yesterday’s NFL clash between the New York Giants and the LA Rams at Twickenham.

This video clip of Pardew discussing the unique NFL experience will probably raise a chuckle from you at the very least.

The Eagles’ boss has spoken of his appreciation for the NFL on more than one occasion previously, readily admitting to being a fan of the Green Bay Packers since learning about the legendary managerial techniques of their former coach Vince Lombardi. With that in mind, it wasn’t surprising to see him at Twickenham yesterday, even though the above incident will no doubt have left him wishing he’d stayed well away from the roving camera crews.

Thanks to the arrival of American duo Josh Harris and David Blitzer in the Crystal Palace boardroom last season, the club’s standing across the Atlantic has definitely received a boost, as proven by NBC’s decision to film a four-part documentary on life behind the scenes at Selhurst Park in the run up to Christmas of 2015. It was in those episodes that we saw Pardew sporting a rather large Carolina Panthers bobble-hat, proving that his love affair with the NFL does go back some way.

Having taken part in an extended interview with Gary Lineker for the BBC’s “Premier League Show” as well as agreeing to take part in an immersive feature with The Guardian’s Dominic Fifield last week, Pardew has seemingly been enjoying the media attention thrown his way of late, even if this latest appearance on the nation’s TV screens will have left him feeling a tad red-faced.

In fairness to him, it’s the sort of mistake we could all be guilty of making if someone came along and shoved a microphone under our noses at short notice for an “informal” chat on live television.

Still, it’s likely to bring a bit of levity to an otherwise horribly grey Monday morning.

Enjoy.
