AUDIO: Steve Parish Slates “Ridiculous” Tottenham Over Wilfried Zaha Bid

Late last night, Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish made an appearance to TalkSPORT to speak directly about the speculation linking winger Wilfried Zaha with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

This audio interview sees Parish slate Spurs, the press and agents within the game over the story. It’s explosive stuff.

After a summer in which the Eagles’ chairman has been uncharacteristically quiet on social media, last night’s appearance on TalkSPORT saw him blow off some steam in more ways than one, having clearly been outraged at the way Tottenham went about expressing an interest in securing the signature of the Palace talisman.

For the most part, the last few weeks have seen our supporters given little to no insight into the inner-workings of the football club but last night, seemingly as a consequence of Steve’s undeniable frustration, he saw fit to let the world and his wife know about the “ridiculous” manner in which Spurs have seen fit to do business regarding Zaha.

The interview, which lasts a little more than 12 minutes, sees him go to town on the conduct of those within the media and agency industries respectively, linking both to Tottenham’s laughable bid for Wilf. Having heard him speak in the press on countless occasions in the past, I’m unsure if I’ve ever known him to sound so frustrated and openly critical of another club’s actions, proving beyond any doubt that the path Spurs have decided to wander down will get them nowhere with him in the next few days.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard Steve Parish speak to any form of media organisation about the club but last night he certainly didn’t disappoint. Something tells me his next face-to-face meeting with Daniel Levy will be particularly cordial.

This Daniel Levy chap has form with this kind of thing – the Berahino saga a case in point. That ended nowhere for him and I just hope Wilf has his head screwed on a bit more tightly and can focus after this. It might take a while for him to settle down again though.
