Do These Tweets Point Towards Benteke’s Palace Transfer Being Completed?

The drawn out saga concerning Christian Benteke’s long-awaited move to Crystal Palace could well be reaching its conclusion after a pair of tweets were published by Turkish journalist Selim Bayer last night.

These tweets from Bayer allude to Christian Benteke making a permanent move away from Liverpool in the coming days.

Whilst rumours of Benteke’s proposed move to Selhurst Park have been in the press for well over a month now, both Liverpool and Crystal Palace have seemingly found it difficult to find a mutual understanding over the size of the fee for the 25-year-old striker.

One widely circulated version of events suggests that Benteke and his representatives have been happy to sign off on a deal with Palace for much of the last month, leaving just a few sticking points for Palace to overcome in their negotiations with the Reds, but after what has felt like a never-ending stalemate, the tweets attached above have given new hope to everyone over the prospect of the transfer taking place in the not too distant future.

Having seen a toothless attacking performance from Pardew’s players against West Brom on Saturday, large numbers of Palace fans have spent the weekend loudly proclaiming that Benteke’s arrival in SE25 will make no difference given the lack of creativity in the Eagles midfield, but with only one fit first-team striker on our books at the time of writing, few would deny that we are hugely lacking the sort of squad depth required to mount a realistic push to keep our place in the Premier League, let alone kick on towards a top half finish.

With a trip to White Hart Lane next up for Pardew and co. the smart money points towards another frustrating afternoon for our fans and players alike, but after watching such a lifeless display from the director’s box against the Baggies, you would like to think that Steve Parish, backed by the American investors that now hold a significant stake in the club, will bite the bullet and push the Benteke deal over the line before the working week is over.

Lets hope the deal goes through ready for the weekend, I’m also very worried about pardews comment about not looking forward to the first game of the season at home to west brom, a team that struggles to score goals and will probably be in the relegation mix. If he thinks that was gonna be a tough game it’s gonna be a very long season.
