Alan Pardew Gives A Direct Indication Of Palace’s Latest Transfer Plans

Alan Pardew has given the most direct indication yet that big money will be spent on incoming transfers in the coming days at Selhurst Park.

These quotes from Pardew see him speak explicitly about the new signings he would like to make in the next week or so.

We all knew that new arrivals were desperately needed in SE25 prior to yesterday’s humbling 1-0 defeat to West Brom, but the lack of creativity in the final third, coupled with the lack of depth on the bench over the course of the afternoon will leave no one in any doubt over the need for reinforcements in the coming days.

Until now, the Eagles gaffer has spoken of “hoping” to see new players arrive prior to the closure of the window, but the above quotes see him take a far more definite tone to questions regarding recruitment throughout the squad. Perhaps, if there had been one or two doubts behind the scenes over the need for added depth, yesterday’s display will have crystallised the questions that had previously been floating around the boardroom.

The problem for supporters, is whether or not the positions and personnel Pardew and co. are looking to bring in are up to the standard required to make a real difference, given the toothless attacking approach we showed during yesterday’s clash with Tony Pulis’ Baggies; after all, there are only a couple of weeks left in the window.

Despite the disappointing nature of our play in the South London sunshine, there are some positives to take from Pardew’s words attached above, which at least lead to genuine hope of the sort of quality additions that will make a real difference when the pressure is truly on our players to deliver.

It’s absolutely infuriating to think that, having had a full summer to prepare for the start of the new season, we kicked off against West Brom yesterday with a significantly weaker squad than the one at the manager’s disposal in May, but if nothing else, our most recent defeat may well have acted as a long overdue wake-up call to those behind the wheel at Selhurst Park.

It’s been a long time coming.

I don’t think those behind the wheel at palace needed a wake up call. SP is as aware as all of us of the need to bring players in. I think this window is a difficult one as everyone is waiting for the domino effect to happen. I think it might not happen until late in the window but saying that, I’m nearly always wrong!!
