Pardew Names The Positions & Number Of New Signings He Wants

Once the first section of yesterday’s press conference drew to a close, Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew gave a specific indication of the portions he wants to add to before the transfer window closes.

These quotes from Pardew see him explicitly describe which positions he wants to strengthen before the end of August.

The last few weeks have been demoralising to say the least for Crystal Palace fans, with most of the talk regarding transfers concerning potential departures rather than arrivals, but following the news that Yannick Bolasie is likely to leave for Everton in the coming days, Pardew’s quotes attached above, offer some sense of positivity regarding the presence of some fresh blood at Selhurst Park before too long.

Unlike many of the transfer windows that have come before, Palace chairman Steve Parish has remained remarkably quiet for the most part, shying away from the potential to engage with fans as he so often has in the past, possibly as a consequence of the protracted and troublesome negotiations he has been locked into with clubs such as Liverpool.

Whilst the much-discussed pursuit of Reds striker Christian Benteke has been a story on the lips of fans in South London and Merseyside alike all summer long, the identity of any other concrete Crystal Palace targets havs remained something of a mystery until now, leading us all to assume that the final stages of the current transfer window are set to keep us all on the edge of our seats for the most part.

Having left the vast majority of media engagements to his assistant Keith Millen over the summer, yesterday’s press conference from Alan Pardew gave supporters their most direct look yet into the club’s transfer strategy in the run up to the window’s closure.

Are you happy with the positions and numbers Pardew has alluded to above, or should we be looking to strengthen other areas of the side too?
