Joe Ledley’s dance moves have become synonymous with Wales’ success during Euro 2016 and last night, following their historic victory over Belgium the Palace man was at it again.
Clearly a man who has always fancied himself on the dance floor, the bearded central midfielder first unleashed his unique shapes on the world following Wales’ qualification for Euro 2016 earlier in the year, seeing clips of what could only be described as his “excited gun fingers” taking social media by storm in the days and weeks that followed.
Since then, each and every one of Wales’ major victories en route to the Euro 2016 semi-finals has been accompanied by the sight of Ledley’s exuberant dancing, much to the amusement of his teammates and football fans across the British Isles.
At a time when so many footballer’s are seen as arrogant, self-important robots, Ledley’s antics have brought an element of relatable reality to the Welsh camp as they’ve plotted their way through the touramamet. Alongside his Palace teammates Wayne Hennessey and Jonathan Williams, Joe is making his country prouder and prouder with each tie that passes, not to mention those back in SE25, who are universally made up at seeing three of their own in the final four of a major international tournament.
With a clash against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal now on the cards next week, heaven only knows what Ledley will pull out of the bag if Chris Coleman’s boys can produce another win against the odds. Could they emulate Leicester City’s incredible run in the previous Premier League season and go all the way? More and more people are starting to believe in the power of footballing miracles, that’s for sure.
