According to reports in the local press surrounding Molineux, Crystal Palace are lining up a double bid for a highly-rated duo from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
No secret has been made of Alan Pardew’s desire to bolster his squad this summer, having seen the team’s results fall away badly at the turn of the year, thanks in no small part to a lack of genuine strength in depth below the first-choice starting XI.
The tender age of the pair is also likely to have played a key role in catching the eye of Palace’s scouts, who, whilst grateful to the likes of Damien Delaney at the heart of our defence, are aware that his advancing years are likely to put an end to his days of playing consistently in the top flight before too long.
Already known to many of our Premier League counterparts before the season ended, the duo’s stellar performances out in France with Gareth Southgate’s England U21’s are likely to have rubber stamped the interest many, including ourselves, had in taking them away from Wolves ahead of the 2016/17 season.
Known to be close friends already, the idea of a double switch may well be of interest to Hause and Iorfa, given the fact that they both relocated to Wolves at the same time from the south of England, building a bond that has seemingly flourished both on and off the field for the Midlands outfit.
We’re set for an extremely busy summer at Selhurst Park on the transfer front, with money flooding into the club’s coffers as a direct consequence of the improved TV deal on offer to each of the 20 participants in the 2016/17 Premier League campaign. With other clubs set to splash the cash in a big way and the board having been frightened by the drastic loss of form at the turn of the year, Alan Pardew will be given the funds to ensure that we don’t suffer a repeat performance by the time the New Year rolls around.
One thing’s for sure, deals like the one referenced at the top of the article will be welcomed with open arms by the vast majority of Palace fans. Exciting times lie ahead.
