You’ll struggle to find a Crystal Palace fan who doesn’t have an immense amount of love for Jason Puncheon already, but the below video is likely to enhance your adoration for him tenfold.
It may not have been a scintillating campaign from start to finish for the Croydon-born midfield man, but in the last couple of months, he has proven his worth to the football club in more ways than one.
The video attached at the top of the article, put together by the excellent Carl Mortimer, takes us through all of the goals Puncheon has scored since first donning a red and blue shirt, using some beautiful editing to create a montage that is highly likely to have you welling up by the end.
We all know the Jason has scored some big goals for us over the years, but what I found most remarkable about the video is question is the consistent quality of each and every one of the midfielder’s goals in a Palace kit.
Whether we’re looking back to his first season with us, when a selection of pivotal efforts, including an absolute beauty away at Cardiff that secured an emphatic win, or his form since then, which has seen him bag all manner of wonder-strikes, from free-kicks against Manchester City and Liverpool to the all important winner at home to Norwich last month; he has been a massively positive part of the team for years now.
There is of course an added connection from the stands, given his local roots, but no one can deny his quality when faced with a sight of goal, a fact probably best demonstrated last weekend, when a venemous volley put Palace 10 minutes away from winning the FA Cup at Manchester United’s expense.
You will struggle to find many better things to do on a Tuesday morning than to watch Punch ping home goals from all angles for more than four minutes; particularly in a video as slickly put together as this one.
He is and always will be, one of our own.
