The much discussed transfer of Gillingham star Bradley Dack looks to be edging towards its conclusion if the words of his manager Justin Edinburgh are anything to go by.
The midfielder has been the star man for the League One outfit this season, but after their slim hopes of promotion to the Championship were ended recently, there is a sense of all too familiar resignation in the words of their manager, as he prepares to lose his best talents before rebuilding the core of his side for another tilt at third tier glory next term.
Dack, a South Londoner by birth, had been on the books of Charlton Athletic as a youngster, before being released and finding his way to Gillingham after impressing as school level and being offered a place in their academy set-up shortly after.
Of course, the jump from League One to the Premier League will be a a massive one for him should a deal be done, but having coasted into the division’s team of the season, as well as winning Gillingham’s Player of the Year award, he’ll be feeling fairly confident of hitting the ground running in SE25 with the backing of the management.
Whilst no official news has come from our side of the table yet, all the noises coming out of Gillingham point towards a move being finalised in the not too distant future; with Dack himself no doubt keen to get things tied up sooner rather than later.
Should it become official in the next few weeks, Dack’s move is likely to be the first of quite a few for Palace this summer, as they look to strengthen significantly in a bid to eliminate the potential for a post-Christmas collapse similar to the one we encountered this season from happening again.
