According to The Sun, (so take it with a gigantic pinch of salt) Palace are planning a summer move for West Brom’s Saido Berahino.
The Baggies may well be safe in the Premier League already, but Berahino has long wanted a route out of The Hawthorns and will no doubt be the subject of mass interest from clubs across the country in the coming months.
The realists amongst us will rightly suggest that the striker is set to join one of this season’s top six rather than a club who have endured a wretched 2016 to date, but should we win the FA Cup in a few weeks time and consequently secure a place in Europe, Pardew and co. may just be able to convince him to give life in SE25 a go.
Papers such as The Sun have long been known for the far-fetched rumours they create and in truth, this is probably nothing more than that, but even so it’s nice to be able to daydream of a big money move for a highly coveted Premier League star in the upcoming transfer window.
The article above also features some quite direct speculation on the future of Palace keeper Wayne Hennessey, who is apparently a genuine target for a number of our Premier League rivals this summer. Quite what they could have all seen to suggest he’s worth signing remains a topic of debate, but I think I’m adopting the feelings of most Palace fans when I say that a bid for him wouldn’t be met with scorn throughout South London as things stand.
Have a read for yourself and decide just how unlikely The Sun’s latest musings on our impending transfer policy are. I’d give it a solid 8/10.
