Jason Puncheon’s first goal of the 2015/16 Premier League season arrived yesterday, sparking wild celebrations from all four sides of Selhurst Park.
After more than three months without a league win, our meeting with Norwich City was the very definition of a six-pointer; a fact that wasn’t lost on any of the players, supporters or management staff in the build-up to the game.
Thankfully, through a mixture of determination, spirit and a moment of sublime quality from Jason Puncheon, we were all able to revel in a massive three points by the time Michael Oliver brought proceedings to a close at 4:50 PM. It was far from straightforward, but after so long without a victory, it proved to be worth the wait in more ways than one.
The above video clip captures a close-up view of the seconds immediately following Jason Puncheon’s dramatic winner, seeing the midfielder collapse to the turf before being mobbed by his joyous teammates. There was pure, unadulterated emotion in Punch’s celebration, with the significance of his curling strike evidently hitting home to him as soon as the ball flew into the back of the net.
Sunday mornings are infinitely better after a Palace victory and today is no different. Take a few moments to watch the madness unfold in front of you via the footage above, it’s bound to put a massive smile on your face.
