Newcastle fans have always been vocal in their criticism of Alan Pardew’s management, but one Geordie took to BBC Radio 606 yesterday to slate Mike Ashley for ever letting their former boss leave.
Whilst Palace are currently on a run of 14 Premier League games without a victory, Newcastle’s own problems are even more dire, thanks to a last-gasp 3-2 defeat away to Norwich City yesterday, a result which left them six points away from safety with just seven games remaining.
Clearly, in the mind of this particular caller, the decision to let Pardew leave for Selhurst Park over the festive period of 2014 was a huge error of judgement from Newcastle’s owner, with the club now facing up to the possibility of dropping into the second tier alongside Aston Villa next season.
Pardew isn’t under ridiculous pressure in SE25, thanks mainly to the fantastic run of form we enjoyed between August and December last year, but our own fans are beginning to raise questions over whether or not he’s the right man for us in the long-term, a bandwagon that is only going to gather more momentum with every winless week that passes.
We’re sure that the vast majority of Newcastle’s supporters will be spitting feathers when listening to the protestations of the caller featured above, but does he have a valid point?
