Steve Parish has made a fine job of accentuating the positives in his programme notes ahead of this afternoon’s game against Liverpool.
Whilst some were no doubt keen to see the co-owner give his honest views on our slide down the table since the turn of the year, he has in fact penned a column which is likely to leave you feeling far more upbeat about out chances of success against Jurgen Klopp’s men that you were beforehand.
It may not feel like it at this moment in time, but the next seven days could be extremely significant for Crystal Palace FC, with today’s game quickly followed by the FA Cup quarter-final trip to Reading next Friday; where we could book our place in an FA Cup semi-final for the first time in 21 years if we play our cards right. It’s a challenge Steve is quite rightly very excited about, having never seen the club progress beyond the fifth round under his guidance.
Having beaten three Premier League clubs on our way to the quarter-finals, the last of whom remain on course to challenge Leicester for the title in May, there is no reason to suggest that we can’t replicate that level of performance at home to Liverpool this afternoon. It’s something that Parish is obviously desperate for us to do, given the huge contrast it presents when looked at next to our form in the first few months of the campaign.
