Crystal Palace deserved nothing out of yesterday’s game against West Brom, following a shambolic opening 45 minutes, but it doesn’t detract from the fact that Jon Moss missed two definite penalties in the second half of the game.
With the score at 3-1 after Connor Wickham’s neatly taken finish in the 46th minute, Palace won a corner, only to see Scott Dann barged in the back when jumping to head home a ball on the edge of the six yard box.
The referee suggested that he had been distracted by a different more minor issue involving Joe Ledley when pressed for clarification by Alan Pardew after the game but no one would deny the fact that Moss dropped an absolute clanger in not pointing to the spot for the foul on the former Blackburn man.
The video above shows the infringement in perfect slow motion, which is sure to only increase your sense of anger and disbelief at Jon Moss refusing to give the penalty. We as fans wouldn’t claim for a moment that our performance was good enough to warrant a positive result, but it doesn’t detract from the fact that the officials have spectacularly failed in their attempt to control the game fully.
The standard of officiating in this country seems to be getting worse and worse, with Moss undoubtedly one of the worst examples.
Prepare to fume.
