Jason Puncheon is and always will be one of our own. The midfield man, who has been sidelined of late with injury, proved that yesterday by taking a seat in the away end with our supporters at White Hart Lane.
Clearly keen to see how the lads got on against Pochettino’s men in his absence, the native south Londoner thought nothing of sitting amongst the traveling army of 5,000 Eagles fans in what turned out to be a fantastic 1-0 win against the odds.
Rumours began circulating that he was in the stand roughly 30 minutes before kick-off, and predictably it didn’t take long for plenty of proof to appear online via the Twitter feeds of those sat around him.
Characteristically happy to indulge supporters who were pleased to see him, Punch has had pictures of him splashed across the Internet over the last 12 hours or so, with many suggesting that he even joined in with fans who were chanting his own song.
One of the biggest problems facing Alan Pardew in recent weeks has been the numerous injuries sustained by key members of the Palace squad, but with Bolasie, Sako and Gayle nearly all back to full fitness, the absence of Puncheon and McArthur hopefully won’t be as keenly felt between now and May.
As you can see from the video attached above, Punch was clearly loving every second of his day amongst the Palace faithful. Maybe he is something of a lucky charm for us. Can anyone get him a ticket for The Hawthorns this weekend?
