More than 5,000 Palace fans made the trip across London for yesterday’s FA Cup fifth round clash with Tottenham at White Hart Lane, a following that made a serious amount of noise throughout, both in the stands and on the concourses.
This video of our supporters was taken during the half-time interval of yesterday’s game, just minutes after Martin Kelly had given us the lead over Spurs. There really is nothing better than an away day atmosphere.
Footage such as this has become a regular thing from travelling supporters around the country in recent months, highlighting the boisterous atmosphere that is often created on concourses of grounds across the country. For us, there was an understandable release of tension after a horrible couple of months, and whilst our league form remains an obvious concern, the distraction of an FA Cup quarter-final will always be welcomed in SE25.
Our fans have become something of a target for the ire of others in recent years, a byproduct of the media’s discovery that we do in fact make quite a bit of noise from game to game. To some, it is simply unacceptable to offer anything in the way of credit, such is the deep-rooted resentment of the praise we get in certain corners of the press, not that it stops us from continuing to do what we have for years to back those who are chosen to represent us on the pitch each week.
If you were there and can spot yourself in the melee, you can enjoy it again from a different angle via the link attached above; if you weren’t, you’re almost certain to enjoy seeing the fans signing and dancing regardless.
Yesterday was a good day to be a Palace fan, in every way imaginable.
